Cellulite is a problem faced by 80 to 90% of all women, but it’s not an easy one to fix. There are a number of factors that can contribute to the formation of cellulite, from smoking, age, genetics or poor diet. That said, by eating healthily and taking regular exercise, you can reduce your chances of forming cellulite in the first place or at least work on reducing any that you may have.
There are many simple exercises that can efficiently discourage the formation of cellulite like squats, push-ups and cardiovascular exercise like jogging. When trying to stop cellulite forming in specific places, such as on your bum or stomach, it is important to target specific parts of your body.
Having a personal trainer, fitness professional or medical advisor provide you with instructions on useful exercise can also help you identify what kind of practices you should be adding into a routine.
Once you have been given your fitness routine, start practising your new exercise routine as soon as possible to minimise the chances of forming new pockets of cellulite. It is important to remember that once cellulite appears, it is harder to remove so you are better off doing the exercise now to avoid it or at least work hard through exercise and diet to reduce it.
While you can help to discourage the formation of cellulite with exercises and by cutting down the amount of fat in your diet, it’s can’t always be removed with exercise and diet alone. For advice about the ways cosmetic surgery procedures can help you address parts of your body you’re not happy with, get in touch with Dr Anh Nguyen, a female plastic surgeon based at Sculpt Surgery in Nedlands, Perth by calling 08 6555 3480.

Despite our best efforts to combine healthy eating with an active and healthy lifestyle, it is often impossible to maintain our bodies after pregnancy and childbirth. Pregnancy and Childbirth brings the gift of new life and with it the joys of parenting. Despite the positive feelings of becoming a mother, many women are often confronted by the realization that their bodies have been changed forever.
After pregnancy, the abdominal muscles can remain weak causing bulging and the tummy skin can lose elasticity and remain stretched. After pregnancy and lactation, our breasts can lose shape, volume or perkiness and our nipples can enlarge and droop. Our labia can stretch and enlarge and the pelvic floor muscles can weaken.
For the women who bounce back close to their former self, congratulations on achieving an amazing feat (often great genetics help too!). The reality for many women is though is that no amount of diet, exercise, vitamins or creams can restore the breasts and body and tone of the skin and muscles to their pre-pregnancy state.
Whilst many women accept their post-pregnancy body as part of life, many of them are understandably dissatisfied with their appearance and lose confidence in how they look and feel. In many cases, a mummy makeover can help improve the appearance of the post-pregnancy body closer to that of a yummy mummy.
As a mother of two children, I truly understand what the female body goes through during and after pregnancy and appreciate how many women feel about their bodies and themselves as they try to manage the new role of motherhood while they battle with adjusting to their new bodies and frustratingly attempt to get their old bodies back – often without great success. Sometimes plastic surgery can help give mothers get the yummy mummy bodies they hope for.
I see a lot of mothers who have lamented about feeling less confident in their clothes because of their bulging tummy and loose overhanging skin. Despite countless abdominal crunches and pilates, these women cannot seem to get the flat tummy back that they had before. I frequently hear women tell of how they feel less sexy because their breasts sag or how they have lost their shape or have become deflated. Then there are other women who get irritation with their enlarged labia and feel self-conscious about how it looks to their partners.
Mummy makeovers can help give mothers back their body confidence. Mummy makeovers are plastic surgery procedures that can reshape and recontour the body to that of a yummy mummy. A tummy tuck can remove excess skin as well as tighten the muscle wall creating an internal corset. A breast lift can reshape and lift sagging breasts. A breast lift in combination with breast implants can restore the volume and firmness of deflated breasts as well as lift them to a more youthful position. A labiaplasty can reduce the size of enlarged labia minora. Radiofrequency skin tightening can help improve the elasticity of skin and reduce the appearance of cellulite.

The harsh climate in Australia is another factor that could be behind a rise in the acceptance of cosmetic surgery. Cellulite is the scourge of many women and it affects 85–98% of post?pubertal females of all races. It doesn’t matter whether you’re slim, sporty or chunky, cellulite can affect women of all shapes and sizes. However, it’s not just a one step process. There are actually five distinct stages during which cellulite forms. Find out more about them so you can start to halt cellulite or remove it with cosmetic treatments and procedures.
The first stage that occurs is a lack of blood flow to a specific region, such as your buttocks, thighs, legs or stomach. Poor circulation to an area means that organic matters will not be as efficiently drained from there. This can cause the second stage, where the veins in the area become weakened due to lack of blood flow, making it possible for blood to pool and create more pressure on the skin.
The third stage occurs a few months later, when restricted drainage eventually leads to the swelling of fatty tissues beneath the skin. At this point, cellulite first becomes visible. During stage four, fibrous connective tissues below the skin begin to clump together due to the excess of fluid, pushing the fatty clumps more firmly against the skin.
In stage five, the blood flow to the region bypasses the areas where fatty cells are most tightly clumped together and a lattice like appearance begins to be noticeable under the skin.
Unfortunately, the signs of cellulite can’t always be removed by exercise and diet alone, although they can be instrumental is stopping its formation in the first place. Find out more about problems such as cellulite and cosmetic treatments for parts of your body that you are unhappy with by getting in touch with fully qualified plasti surgeon Dr Anh Nguyen on 08 6555 3480.
