    The Evolution of Makeup

    Last updated 1 year ago

During your morning ritual or in preparation for a night out, how much consideration do you give to the products you use? Do you ever wonder about how mascara evolved into the compact cosmetic it is today? How ancient cultures used coloured pigment to define their eyes, much the same as we do in 2013?

Here, the History of Makeup is explored graphically, from Egyptian times, through to the introduction of lipstick in the 1700's, the decadence of the 1920's, the disco of the 1970's (and many eras in between!)

    Cosmetic Surgery Apps

    Last updated 1 year ago

If you’re a techno-loving type who is considering cosmetic surgery, there are a few smartphone apps that might be right up your street. Of course, an app can’t help you find the best and most suitable cosmetic surgeon for the job or show you exactly what the results of a treatment may be, but many can give you a good idea of what to expect if you do decide to go ahead.

To see how you might look if you choose to have anything from a nose job to liposuction, check out the Body Plastika app. This cutting edge piece of software offers visualisation tools to give you a way to find out how cosmetic surgery could alter the way you look. iSurgeon also features an easy way to see some of the potential changes cosmetic surgery could make to your appearance.

If you do use a smartphone app to visualise the way you might look after a procedure, it’s a good idea to show the picture to your cosmetic surgeon. You can then use this as a discussion point over the predicted results of your procedure in real life.

There are also apps designed to help people educate themselves about different types of cosmetic surgeries and surgeons, such as the iPhone app from the American Society For Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

For excellent pre-surgery advice and answers to all of your questions about the potential benefits of cosmetic surgery, get in touch with the team at Dr Anh Nguyen's Perth practice by calling (08) 6555 3480. Dedicated to achieving great results and ensuring your comfort and confidence, this is a cosmetic clinic that cares.

A History of Cosmetic Surgery [INFOGRAPHIC]

    Last updated 1 year ago

Did you know that the Ancient Egyptians believed that the face was the only physical attribute one carried into the afterlife? Or that the Roman philosopher Celsus' De Medicina ruled as the go-to book for cosmetic surgery for over 1700 years?

Here's a great infographic showing a visual timeline of the history of cosmetic surgery, and how its purpose has shifted over time (and in some cases, remained the same!)

New Year, New Body With Liposonix

    Last updated 1 year ago

    Media Release

Sculpt Studio offers revolutionary non-invasive fat reduction treatment – One hour, One Inch, One size smaller

Kickstart your new year’s new body resolution with a ground breaking new treatment called LIPOSONIX. Liposonix uses high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) energy to permanently destroy targeted fat cells without surgery.  Patients need to undergo only one treatment for one hour to drop one size over 8-12 weeks.

The Liposonix system technology works by focusing ultrasound energy below the surface of the skin in order to heat only targeted fat tissue – similar to how light from the sun can be focused with a magnifying glass to create heat.  The treated fat tissue is removed through the body's natural healing process, leaving the patient with a thinner, more contoured waistline.

Patients typically resume normal activities immediately after the Liposonix procedure and no special diet or exercise program is required in order to achieve a reduction of one inch (2.5 cm) at 12 weeks after a single Liposonix treatment.

Liposonix has FDA and TGA approval. Clinical studies of more than 200 patients, conducted using the Liposonix system, showed an average waist circumference reduction of approximately one inch (2.5cm) seen at 12 weeks.

"Liposonix is a safe non-surgical solution for people who have stubborn areas of fat that just won't go away no matter how much they exercise or diet," says Dr. Anh Nguyen, plastic surgeon at Sculpt Studio. “The advantages of Liposonix over liposuction and traditional surgical fat reduction procedures are that there are no needles, no incisions and scars, no downtime, risks and costs associated with having surgery. Given the choice, most patients choose the less invasive option.”

Trends in plastic and cosmetic surgery show that non-invasive procedures are growing in popularity over traditional surgical procedures. Now there is a non-invasive body-contouring device that can help shift that last inch.

Australians Are Spending More Than Ever On Cosmetic Surgery

    Last updated 1 year ago

Research carried out by business analysts IbisWorld has revealed that Australians are now spending more than ever on cosmetic surgery and non-surgical anti-ageing procedures.

Defying worldwide trends, the cosmetic surgery industry in Australia has actually enjoyed a boom period over the last five years – with Aussies spending around $850 million on cosmetic surgery over the last twelve months.

The demand in Australia currently outstrips that in both Europe and North America, with the most popular procedures being rhinoplasty, breast augmentation, breast lifts, liposuction and blepharoplasty.

The boom isn’t all surgery related either – non-invasive cosmetic procedures like botox injections, dermal fillers and corrective treatments have all been growing in popularity as well, and Australians have been spending around $560 million on them each year.

The research also revealed that while men are still undergoing cosmetic procedures, it very much remains a women’s world, with 92% of surgeries performed on the fairer sex.

While these results might raise a few eyebrows while the world is generally still suffering from an economic downturn, they go a long way to proving the cosmetic surgery industry should remain lucrative and popular for some time to come.
